Dia is the crap footballers’ crap footballer. He may be truly rubbish but he’s also one of the best conmen in the business. The striker arrived in 1996 after convincing Graeme Souness (I know, I know) that he came highly recommended by none other than George Weah who was apparently his cousin. Dia claimed he had it all, that he could dribble past the best defenders and had lightning quick pace. Having talked himself up sufficiently to be handed a trial, Dia won a place on the bench as the Saints took on Leeds at the Dell. During the match in question, Souness gambled by taking off Matt Le Tissier and throwing on Dia in what has gone down as the worst substitution in world football history. The clown missed an open goal and lasted a mere 16 minutes before being hauled off by his furious manager. He was never seen in a red and white shirt again.
